From Field to Bottle

The wine production process is complex and has evolved for centuries. Virginia wines have been effected by this evolution, and have benefited. For example, the discovery of grape vine grafting around 1869/1870 helped change the wine industry in the state and allowed for the fragile European vinifera grape vines to be grown and prosper.
